I am interested in photography as a modifier of our vision and conception of reality, as a means to question the viewer's preconceptions about what he believes he is seeing. My images are subtle simulacra, which purpose is to generate new perceptions, where true and false take on another dimension.
I use the photographic space as an unstable flow of information, which can be pulled in any number of directions, in order to confuse the visual experience - combining the connection between the "real" subject and the digital interventions that overlay them. The distinction between the virtual and actual (or embodied) experience collapses increasingly not simply as a perceived illusion, but rather as a kind of deep confusion, constantly vascillanting between real and virtual. Bringing together heterogeneous techniques and modes of representation, mixing «straight photographs» and heavily manipulated images, thus blurring the fine line between fact and fiction, my practice is an experiment on bringing forward the unfathomable and illusory qualities of the medium, while maintaining a narrative quality open to personal interpretation and the search for a certain truth.
With the project «Blank», I am attempting a visual exercise at representing these notions. The images carry the authoritative quality of photography, its narrative properties and an attempt at capturing the abstract and conceptual qualities of light and perception.
