An extract from a series of 51 portraits of asylum seekers in Geneva, shot as part of an art therapy / Inside Out foundation project, pasted in public on the street by the asylum seekers themselves. Photos were taken on four sites in s single day, including an underground shelter. The portraits concentrate on male asylum seekers, as these tend to be the most excluded and stigmatized group, who have the most difficulty seeking a path to integration. Their conditions are also usually worse – only men are housed in the eight underground shelters currently in use in Geneva. The portraits are accordingly deliberately more restrained and calm than is usual for this project format. Part of the series was used in the 'Les Grand Reportages' album of Reporters Sans Frontiers (Suisse), and so also on the blog of Le Temps in relation to this. There were also several articles covering the original event (Le Temps, Tribune de Geneve, Swissinfo etc). The names, nationalities, and ages of the subjects are known, but withheld in part for their and their families protection.
